FAQ's

1. Who is Jack the Ant?
Jack is a hungry little ant who likes to play games. When he is not spinning around in a cup, Jack's favorite activity is eating. Jack especially likes pie - any type of pie. Jack loves to send text messages. Play the game long enough and he might text you.

2. How do you play this game?
Find Jack is a simple shell game. The game starts with 3 cups. When you tap the Spin the Cups Button, Jack will randomly pop out from one of the cups for a second, and then hid back under the cup. The cups spin around and around and when they stop, you can tap the cup you think Jack is under. If you guess correctly, your score goes up by 1 and you can play again. As you continue to play, the number of times the cups swap around increases as does the speed of the swaps. At a score of 5 a fourth cup is added, at a score of 10 a fifth cup is added. If your score is one of the three highest, it is recorded in the High Scores. As you continue to play, Jack and his pals will try their best to distract you.

3. What is Slow Mo Replay?
If you incorrectly guess which cup Jack is under, two buttons will appear at the bottom of the screen. The button on the left lets you start a new game. The button on the right side is labeled Slow Mo Replay. When you tap the Slow Mo Replay button, the last round of the shell game is replayed at a slower speed. The cup Jack is under is marked with a red X so you can see for yourself how the cups were swapped around.

4. How do I display the High Scores?
Under the application menu (tap the words Find Jack in the top left corner of the screen) there is a High Scores option. Tapping High Scores will open the High Scores screen displaying the highest three scores. There is a button at the bottom of the screen that permits you to clear the scores if you want.

5. How do I change the user name on the High Score?
Under the application menu, select the Preferences option. On the Preferences screen there is a place to enter the name you would like to have appear in the high scores screen.

6. How can I turn the sound off?
Under the application menu, select the Preferences option. On the Preferences screen, there is a toggle switch to turn on or off the game sound. Also note that the sounds in this game are system sounds. The webOS devices have volume levels for both the ringer and system sounds. Adjusting the system sound level will change the volume level of the sounds in the game.

7. What is the "Starting Level" ?
Version 1.3.1 adds a "Starting Level" feature. Find Jack gets progressively more challenging (faster, more cups, different bug tricks) as the score gets higher. The Starting Level feature allows users to start at a higher level if they want to. The setting are Easy (the default starting level of Score = 0), Medium (Score = 10) and Hard (Score = 26). The Starting level can be adjusted either on the Title screen or under the Preferences menu.

8. How can I save my progress in a game and come back latter to resume play ?
Version 1.3.1 adds a Save option. A button to the left of the Spin button is labeled Save. This button is enabled after a user picks a correct cup. Tapping the Save button saves the current score to memory. The user can resume play at the saved score after an incorrect pick by tapping Play Again and selecting the Saved Game option. Additionally if there is a saved game, a user can choose to start at that level when launching the application.

9. Is Jack really sending me text messages?
Jack is sending simulated text messages during the game. The alert does look like a real text message, but there are no messages going over the cell network or piling up in your message application.

10. Who are those other bugs?
The other bugs in the game are Jack's pals. They are trying to get you to take your eye off the game long enough for you to lose track of Jack. They are a funny cast of characters - you can learn more about them and Jack at our website :
